Ulrich Lüttge wirkte in Forschung und Lehre als Lehrstuhlinhaber am Institut für Botanik der Technischen Universität Darmstadt. Er lehrte über 40 Jahre lang Botanik auf breiter Basis und hält nach seiner Emeritierung immer noch Vorlesungen und Praktika ab. Er ist ein erfahrener Didaktiker und betreut das kleine Botanik-Lehrbuch "Lüttge, Kluge, Bauer" gemeinsam mit Manfred Kluge seit über 20 Jahren.
Manfred Kluge hatte einen Lehrstuhl am Institut für Botanik der Technischen Universität Darmstadt inne. Er blickt auf eine mehr als vierzigjährige Lehrtätigkeit zurück, die breite Bereiche der Botanik umfasste. Ein besonderes Anliegen waren ihm die Lehrveranstaltungen des Grundstudiums, darunter die Vorlesungen "Allgemeine Biologie" und "Allgemeine Botanik".
