No photographer is more closely associated with a city than Brassaï (1899–1984) is with Paris. A friend of Picasso and Henry Miller, Brassaï knew and photographed the leading figures of his day – Giacometti, Sartre, Dalí, Matisse and Mann among them. Roger Grenier (b 1919) is a French writer, journalist and radio animator. He is a member of the Gallimard board and received the Grand prix de l'Académie française in 1985.
