In an effort to protect Armands name and status, Marguerite makes a daring sacrifice that leaves him yearning for closure and peace. Camille is arguably Alexandre Dumas most celebrated work. Shortly after its publication, it was adapted into a stage play, followed by an opera called La Traviata. This success also led to more than 20 film adaptations starting in 1915.
