This special volume of the series Glaube und Denken contains papers presented at the University of Regensburg and in Neuendettelsau at the Mission Department of the Lutheran Church in Bavaria by 26 theologians from ten different countries predominantly from the Asian region. We can observe an increase of nationalistic and fundamentalistic currents in many Asian countries in which Christians are largely a minority. Furthermore developments in Germany, such as secularization and the increase of other religions through the influx of migrants, show the urgency to reflect on this new situation. The papers assembled in this volume treat topics such as secularization, education, mission, and ecumenics.
