Julian Lindley-French is Professor of Military Art and Science at the Royal Military Academy of the Netherlands, Senior Associate Fellow of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom and Senior Scholar at the Centre for Applied Policy at the University of Munich. Formerly Director of the International Security Policy Training Course at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. An historian by training he graduated from Oxford University in 1980. He received a Masters Degree in International Relations (with distinction) from UEA in 1992 and a doctorate in political science from the European University Institute in Florence in 1996.
