A poetic debut picture book, inspired by Baltimore, that celebrates community action.

Sometimes, a neighborhood feels forgotten.

But in the vibrant imagination of one young girl, there are dreams of a different city.

In her dreams, her city is a fantastic place.

And together with her neighbors, she can make it better.

More beautiful.

Safe.

Maybe Something Beautiful meets Something, Someday in this deeply touching ode to cities and urban spaces that reveals the transformative power of communal love, creativity, and hope.

B. Sharise Moore is a proud mom, author, curriculum developer, host, and the poetry editor for FIYAH: Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction. She is the author of the YA novel Dr. Mavellus Djinn’s Odd Scholars, and she curated and edited Conjuring Worlds: An Afrofuturist Textbook for Middle and High School Students. A City Dream is her first picture book. B. Sharise lives in Baltimore with her husband and children, and you can find her at bsharisewrites.com. Trudi-Ann Hemans was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. At the age of sixteen, she left everything familiar to move to the United States and pursue her dream of becoming an artist. Her dream came true, as Trudi is currently a full-time illustrator and designer. When she’s not drawing, Trudi enjoys curling up with a good Ghibli movie, crocheting, and taking care of her many, many plant babies. You can learn more about Trudi-Ann at trudiannhemans.com.
