A fresh young fiction look for Dick King-Smith's timeless classics, Lady Lollipop and Clever Lollipop.
Lady Lollipop is no ordinary pig. She lives in the royal palace with Princess Penelope and the King and Queen - and she's very clever. She's very good at solving other people's problems too. But when she needs a little magical help herself, it's time to call in the amazing Collie Cob, the Conjuror!
Dick King-Smith (1922–2011), a dairy farmer-turned author, is one of the world's favourite children's book authors, best known for his charming and humorous animal stories. He won the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize for The Sheep-Pig (filmed as Babe) and was named Children's Book Author of the Year in 1991. He was the author of Walker's much-loved Sophie series and A Pig Called Lollipop as well as two perenenially popular non-fiction picture books, I Love Guinea Pigs and All Pigs Are Beautiful.
Jill Barton (1940-2025) was a beloved children’s book illustrator. She was highly commended for the Kate Greenaway Medal for The Pig in the Pond by Martin Waddell, and illustrated many other books for children, including Grape Zoo by Ivor Cutler and the popular Baby Duck stories by Amy Hest. She also collaborated with a number of award-winning authors, including Dick King-Smith, Sam McBratney and Phyllis Root.
