Centered on a little girl raised in the Appalachian region of North Carolina and then Virginia, Cricket's Child offers a mid-twentieth century social history. Janice Saunders is a retired history professor (Roanoke College). She received her Ph.D. in sociology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
