Sandwiched between County Durham and Northumberland, Tyneside is one of the most heavily industrialised regions of Britain. This book guides us to over 100 remarkable sights to be found on Tyneside, spanning centuries of history since Roman times.

Robert Woodhouse began researching the history of north-east England in the 1960s. He has twenty-four books on the area to his credit, for nine different publishers (including SPL's Northumberland - Strange but True and County Durham - Strange but True), and makes regular contributions to local radio and in newspapers - including a weekly walks column in the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette, which has appeared since 1991. Well known for his local history summer schools, adult education classes and annual lecture programme, Robert is one of the north-east's foremost historians.
