This volume, authored by a leading authority in Cypriot archaeology, Professor Emeritus Vassos Karageorghis FBA, and with contributions by other scholars, aspires to make accessible many of the Cypriot artefacts from the collection of the S.O.F.I.A. Foundation in Nicosia, together with a part of the Photos Photiades collection.
The book features some 230 pieces illustrated in superb colour photography, which include an impressive array of vases with representative examples of all stylistic tendencies from Late Bronze Age down to Roman times. Together with plastic vases, terracotta figurines, coins and other artifacts in glass, gold, cooper, stone, and bone, the objects in the catalogue testify to the vitality and originality of Cypriot art as well as to its interaction with other cultures.
