No parent believes they will hear that their child suffered a massive stroke. However, this is exactly what happened to Jennifer and Mike Ortiz. After hearing those words, Jennifer began writing The Diary of a Baby and a Stroke, vowing to share her son Jude's amazing story. Written with raw honesty, Jennifer shows the trials, tribulations, and joy of special needs parenting. Jude's story inspires us all with his incredible fight to overcome his disabilities and limitations. Although never speaking a word, Jude finds a way to inspire thousands through Jennifer's words. Holding on to faith and love, this family fights the odds and takes the reader on an incredible journey.
Relying on faith and love, Jennifer Ortiz walked the difficult path with her baby son after he suffered a massive stroke. She vowed to share her son’s story with the world to inspire others and to educate the community on pediatric strokes. Jennifer upheld her promise to her readers to always be honest and open regarding every aspect of their family’s journey through a horrific tragedy. Jennifer attended North Lake College and is a licensed insurance agent and adjuster. She also helps her daughter Emily run the non-profit corporation, Emily’s Smile Boxes. The charity has been recognized nationwide. In 2010, Jennifer’s family received the Pediatric Nursing Associations Family of the year award for all of their work for the medical community, and in 2014 she was honored as one of the Miss Texas Women of Achievement.
