Die Südkirche, am Hang oberhalb der Esslinger Pliensau-Vorstadt gelegen, ist sicher das kunsthistorisch interessanteste Bauwerk der Stadt aus dem 2 . Jahrhundert. Als städtebauliches Gegenstück zur gotischen Frauenkirche auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des Neckartals wurde sie von Martin Elsaesser entworfen und 925/2 errichtet.
