Now in a fully updated and revised sixth edition, this textbook shows how effective strategies for managing diversity and inclusion in work and sport environments can benefit employees, athletes, sport organizations, and wider society.
Grounded in cutting-edge research and theory, the book introduces key concepts and explains what best practice looks like in the workplace. It adopts a unique, multilevel approach that draws on organizational strategy, macro-level policy, and global trends to show how sport organizations can create and sustain diversity and inclusive practice, and how diversity and inclusion can lead to better organizational performance, better commercial outcomes, and positive social change. This new edition includes a brand-new chapter on globalization and new international examples, plus more cases and data from professional sport, as well as new ‘Policy in Practice’ and ‘Intersectionality Spotlight’ features in every chapter to show how theory and practice tie together. It also considers recent changes in the political landscape and how sport organizations and managers can best meet those challenges.
This book is essential reading for any student taking a course in sport business, sport management, sport development, sport coaching, human resource management in sport, sport and social issues, sport leadership, or the ethics of sport.
Supplementary resources accompanying the text include PowerPoint slides, a test bank, and a summary for each chapter.
