Drama Classics: The World's Great Plays at a Great Little Price

Henrik Ibsen's revolutionary play about a woman's awakening to her need for a life of her own.

A Doll's House was premiered at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 1879.

This English version of A Doll's House is translated and introduced by Kenneth McLeish.

Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906) was a Norwegian playwright and theatre director. His plays include: Brand, Peer Gynt, A Doll’s House, Ghosts, An Enemy of the People, Hedda Gabler, Rosmersholm, The Master Builder, Little Eyolf, John Gabriel Borkman and When We Dead Awaken. Kenneth McLeish was the most widely respected and prolific translator of drama in Britain and, until his early death in 1997, edited the NHB Drama Classics series.
