Black theology has flourished within the academy. Its theories, however, have not always translated into practical use for Black people. 'Dramatizing Theologies' outlines the strong practical dimension of Black theology. Combining Black theology with dramatic, dialogical sketch material, the book produces an accessible approach to Black theological dialogue. The chasm between the academy, church and grassroots communities is overcome through the use of drama. 'Dramatizing Theologies' offers a unique methodology for Black theological conversation with the poor, marginalized and disenfranchised.
Anthony G. Reddie is a Research Fellow at the Queen's Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education, in Birmingham, and a Consultant in Black Theological Studies for the British Methodist Church. He is presently the editor of Black Theology: An International Journal. Dr. Reddie is the author of Growing into Hope [Vols. 1 & 2], (M.P.H. 1998) the first Black African-centred work in Christian Education in Europe. His other credits include Legacy: Anthology in Memory of Jillian Brown (M.P.H. 2000), Faith Stories and the Experience of Black Elders (Jessica Kingsley, 2001), Nobodies to Somebodies (Epworth, 2003), Acting in Solidarity: Reflections in Critical Christianity (Darton, Longman and Todd, 2005), Inside Out, Outside In: Black theology in Transatlantic Dialogue (Palgrave, 2006) and Black Religion and Black Theology in Britain: A Reader (co-edited with Michael N. Jagessar (Equinox, 2007).
