When her father is killed in a fight and her mother turns to drink in her sorrow, Molly finds herself the only wage owner. She tries to take care of her mother and younger sister, Jodie. But when a fire destroys their home, not only do Molly and Jodie lose their mother, but they find themselves homeless and with a very bleak future ahead of them...
