A truly funny and original picture book starring a sweet koala-like creature with a terrible reputation. But do you believe the rumours?

With humour and gentle suspense, Dropbear dares all little ones to think only for themselves and not give way to gossip. A masterful new picture book by Philip Bunting filled with atmospheric yet graphic illustrations of the Australian outback.

Deep in the Australian bush, there lives a creature who seems just like a koala bear, but who is feared by all. Hiding high up in the trees, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting victims below - it's dropbear. But is Dropbear really as evil as everyone says he is? One brave little bird dares to find out the truth for herself.

Philip Bunting is an author and illustrator whose picture books deliberately encourage the reader to playfully poke around at the edges of their understanding. Philip's books have been published in over 35 countries around the world, in almost as many languages. Philip’s work has received many accolades, including multiple honours from the Children’s Book Council of Australia, nominations for the Kate Greenaway Medal, representing Australia at the IBBY Awards, and taking home the inaugural State Library of NSW Russell Prize for Humour Writing. Philip grew up in England’s Lake District, just down the road from Mrs Tiggy-Winkle’s place. He followed his heart to Australia in his early 20s, and now lives with his young family on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Find him online at philipbunting.com and on Instagram as @philip.bunting.
