The new edition of Elliott Erwitt’s acclaimed volume Kolor showcases a fresh compilation of the legendary photographer’s colour images. Carefully curated from an archive of nearly half a million Kodachrome slides, the 304 pages reveal a vibrant kaleidoscope of photographs—some of them over 70 years old—whose colours have been remarkably preserved. The subjects span a diverse range, from world leaders to playful showgirls, bustling marketplaces to military camps, and from Las Vegas to Venice—all imbued with Erwitt’s signature dry wit and keen sensitivity. An essential addition to any Elliott Erwitt collection.

Born in Paris in 1928, Elliott Erwitt spent his formative years in Milan, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, where his passion for photography was ignited. After meeting luminaries such as Edward Steichen and Robert Capa in New York, Erwitt began his professional career and, in 1953, joined Magnum Photos—serving multiple terms as its president. Renowned for his incisive visual essays and iconic magazine work, Erwitt’s photography has shaped visual culture for over seventy years. His oeuvre includes numerous acclaimed books and exhibitions at institutions such as MOMA New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Paris’ Museum of Modern Art. Erwitt died in New York in 2023, aged 95.
