The menopause conversation can take one of two directions - push through (stay strong, fix your symptoms); or stay forever young. But what if there was a better way? The Embodied Menopause gives you a different approach; one rooted in slowing down, listening and honouring the profound intelligence of the body.
Through gentle somatic practices and personal stories, movement teachers Charlotte Watts and Leonie Taylor guide you to move with, not against, this powerful life transition. They explore how to meet your changing body and fluctuating emotions with compassion and curiosity, so you can rediscover balance, energy and a renewed sense of self.
Drawing on the principles of somatics - an intuitive approach to movement that connects mind, body and emotion - this book helps you to release stress, soothe the nervous system and reconnect with your natural rhythms. Whether you're experiencing symptoms of menopause or just sensing a need for change, you'll find simple, accessible practices for easing anxiety, improving sleep, restoring vitality and cultivating inner calm.
With chapters on:
The seasons of life and what it means to mature
Listening to your true needs and respecting your available energy
The mood and sleep shifts that so often accompany hormonal change
Rediscovering your core, your confidence and your creativity
The Embodied Menopause is that wise friend who reminds you that you are not broken, nor diminished, but instead becoming more fully yourself.
Leo Taylor is a senior yoga teacher and therapeutic Thai medicine massage practitioner. She is fascinated by the intersection of non-western approaches to whole health and modern science, and by how to most effectively complement and improve holisitic wellbeing. Leo has supported women through the transitions of pregnancy, postpartum and menopause through specialised classes and workshops since 2006.
Charlotte Watts came to yoga through her own stress and trauma-related issues and has been exploring this
since, with more explorative, trauma-informed somatic practices. She teaches in health-related yoga and somatics training courses for Yogacampus and The Minded Institute. Charlotte is also an award-winning Nutritional Therapist who has been consulting to support female hormones since 2000.
Leo and Charlotte are the authors of several books on yoga, stress and nutrition.
