The determination of what is right and wrong depends on clearly understood and agreed upon assumptions. The ontological arguments and logic used to establish these necessary basic assumptions are presented, culminating in a practical procedure based upon the Universal Law that can permit everyone to determine for themselves right or wrong or what ought to be done in almost any situation. Ethics Problem Solving and Discourse on Living also recognizes that ordinary dictionaries cannot provide definitions of many complex concepts that are adequate for effective ethical discourse; therefore, an integrated set of stipulated definitions which are very different from those in ordinary use are included, along with essays explaining the definitions and why they differ from those in ordinary usage. Use of these stipulated definitions in ethical discourse can significantly improve the level of success that can be achieved in solving problems, resolving conflicts nonviolently and accomplishing goals. Study and discussion of the essays can eliminate misconceptions, avoid destructive interpretations leading to violence and corruption, and serve as a means of developing an ethical conscience.
