A tender and moving picture book about dealing with grief and bereavement, as a little girl copes with the death of her father.

The sound of Papa’s sewing machine fills the family home:
Snip! Whirr! Clank!
Click Click Click!

But one day everything changes and the house is silent...

The family bond over Papa’s love for sewing, and in this sensitively told story, the little girl rediscovers this hobby with her father and together, they find a way to remember Papa. Award-winning artist Aditi Anand makes her debut as an author-illustrator in this poignant story full of love and hope, perfect for fans of Britta Teckentrup's The Memory Tree.

Aditi Anand is an illustrator, author, and printmaker from India. In 2024, she graduated with distinction from the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. She is the winner of the Picture This prize and in 2024 she won the Emerging Illustrator V&A prize for illustration. The Fabric of Us is her debut picture book as an author illustrator.
