A celebratory bilingual concept picture book, this book of colors features a street fiesta with green avocados, yellow tortillas, purple dance dresses, and brown charro pants—concluding with a double gatefold finale reveal.

Duncan Tonatiuh is a Mexican American award-winning author and illustrator known for children’s books that explore history, identity, and social justice. Born in Mexico City and raised in San Miguel de Allende, he later studied at Parsons School of Design and Eugene Lang College in New York City.
His distinctive illustration style, inspired by pre-Columbian art—particularly the Mixtec codices—gives his books a unique visual identity. His work often focuses on Latino heritage, immigration, and civil rights, helping young readers connect with history and see their own experiences reflected in stories.
Tonatiuh’s books have received numerous honors, including the Pura Belpré Medal, the Robert F. Sibert Award, and multiple New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Book selections.
