Flamekraken and the Forest Fire
When a dangerous wildfire starts in Evergreen Forest, putting the lives of Kevin, Kia, Sid and Dixie in danger, Flamekraken is quick to respond. Flamekraken battles the ferocious fire with his eight tentacular hoses and every drop of water he has. Will he get the flames under control before he runs out of water? Or will the fire be too powerful?
With a little help from his airborn buddy Heletor, the animals are saved, and the Green Machines and the people of Hope Island work towards replanting the forest again. Together, we are unstoppable. This title contains a nonfiction endmatter spread about wild fires produced in collaboration with Greenpeace.
James Sellick is a storyteller who wants to use his creative powers for good and also thinks sharks are misunderstood. He’s the author of There’s a Rang-tan in my Bedroom, a story that helped put the issue of palm oil on the map. He also wrote There’s a Jag-wah in my Kitchen a story about the dangers of our industrial meat system. Most recently, he was the creative director and co-writer on 'Don’t Stop', the Greenpeace song, short film and collaboration with Fleetwood Mac and Sir Steve McQueen.
Illustrator and author Patrick Corrigan grew up in a cloudy town in Cheshire where he brightened up his life with various creative endeavours and activities (his favourite was cross stitch!). He studied ceramics at university before training as an art teacher. He then went on to become the art director of a busy design studio in London. In 2018 he made the decision to try his hand as a freelance illustrator and has never looked back. His work has been commissioned by numerous clients including: Flying Eye, Walker, Templar, Harper Collins, Penguin, Hachette, Dorling Kindersly, Usborne, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and Magic Cat Publishing. He was longlisted for the 2022 and 2023 World IIlustration Awards.
