Choose yourself. Reclaim your body. Become whole.

The deeply personal and uniquely empowering call to arms from author, model and activist, Charli Howard.

'
Powerful and incredibly validating' Lily Reinhart
'Extraordinary' Glamour
'Fierce and tender' Yrsa Daley-Ward
'Urgent and timely' Emma Louise-Boynton

In this urgent and powerful series of essays, author and activist Charli Howard explores how society has objectified the female body throughout time. Through analysing her own body, one piece at a time, Charli charts the impact of long-term sexual objectification and misogyny on the female body, and shows how to reclaim it for yourself and, eventually, truly love it as your own.

Through personal reflection and social analysis, she reminds us why we must give ourselves grace when assessing our own bodies, as we are so often viewing them through a lens corrupted long before we were born. Flesh is an unmissable exploration of what it means to be a woman in the twenty-first century.

Charli Howard is an author, model, entrepreneur and women's rights activist.

Charli is most widely known for her work fronting leading campaigns for global brands and can most recently be seen as the face of GHD and Spanx. She has previously collaborated with the likes of Christian Louboutin beauty, Russell & Bromley, Coco De Mer and Pat McGrath Labs. Charli has been profiled in coveted titles across the world including British Vogue, ELLE, Sunday Times Style and Rollacoaster, and was the host of BBC Sounds' podcast Fashion Fix, which saw Charli interview designers and fashion tastemakers, exploring the theme of sustainability. Charli is currently working on her next book which will drive further conversation around women's issues. She is also the co-founder of feel-good skincare brand Squish.

As an ambassador for Refuge, Charli is dedicated to raising awareness of and opening up about her own experiences, to drive conversation to make change and positive impact. Charli supported the charity's recent campaign on digital consent and the rise of AI deepfakes, by taking part in a roundtable at the House of Commons fronted by Glamour UK and alongside editor Deborah Joseph. This campaign successfully lobbied the UK government to criminalise the creation of non-consensual deepfake pornography.
