For a Pagan Song tells the story of how Jonny Bealby follows in the footsteps of his two heroes from literature, Kipling and Dravot, travelling across remote parts of India and Pakistan and into war-torn Afghanistan. Picturing himself seated by a roaring fire, listening to the song of a pagan chief, Jonny sets out to experience the ancient ways of the tribes of Kafiristan -- and discovers himself along the way.
Jonny Bealby was born in 1963. Educated in England, Scotland and Canada, he developed a passion for travel and on leaving college journeyed extensively in Australasia and the Far East. Returning to the UK he became a sound engineer before forming his own rock band, Tin Gods. The group recorded four singles and one album before splitting up. He has visited more than sixty countries and has had articles featured in a variety of publications including the Daily Telegraph, Observer, Traveller, and Manchester United Magazine. He is the author of Running with the Moon, For a Pagan Song and Silk Dreams, Troubled Road.
