Written by Anjali Tiwari, who is aged 16 at the time of publishing, Forbidden was one of four winners of Pop Up's 10th Birthday Writing Competition. This beautiful book features eleven pages of original artwork by illustrator Danica Da Silva Pereira. For young readers age 10 and up.
Anjali Tiwari lives in Lucknow, India, and at the time of publication was a Grade 12 student in high school. She has won many prizes in creative writing in India, and documents school life in her blog, A Bibliophile’s Thoughts. Anjali was one of four young winners of Pop Up’s 10th Birthday Writing Competition in 2020; Forbidden was chosen out of 100s of entries from 40 countries, and is Anjali’s
first published children’s book.
Danica Da Silva Pereira is an illustrator of children’s books including The Little Rainmaker (with Roopal Kewalya). Born in Goa, India, she now lives in Cambridge but continues to be inspired by her ethnic culture for her illustrative work. She has an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art, and her clients include Penguin Random House, World Vision and Himalaya Personal Care.
