"Fresh, exciting, challenging and mind-stretching" Christian Herald
Now an SPCK Classic, this is probably the most popular modern introduction to the four Gospel portraits of Jesus. It is written by an internationally respected biblical scholar and Christian communicator.
Time and again, this book delights the reader as it points out nuances of wording and presentation that are so often the clues to the gospel writer's mind and to his response to the figure of Jesus Contact.
The Revd Canon Professor Richard A. Burridge MA, PGCE, PgDipTh, PhD, FKC is an internationally recognised biblical scholar, ethicist, theologian and social commentator, whose books include Imitating Jesus (2007), Four Gospels, One Jesus? (2013) and Four Ministries, One Jesus? (2017). During his career he has been a schoolmaster, parish priest, university chaplain and professor. He served as Dean of King’s College London for over 25 years from 1993 to 2019. He was awarded the Ratzinger Prize for Theology in 2013 by Pope Francis and is the first non-Catholic to receive this prestigious award.
