D is for Desert Island Discs: just what would Dambuster Guy Gibson have liked while marooned on his desert island? E is for Everest: did you know that two Scotsmen were the first to fly over the magnificent mountain? F is for Faster than the sun: which aircraft was the first to fly faster than the Earth's rotation? A must-read for anyone interested in the world of aviation – and may win the reader a pub quiz or two!

Norman Ferguson has been interested in aircraft for all his life. He was born into a family of planespotters: during World War Two one grandfather was an anti-aircraft gunner, the other an ARP warden during the Blitz. His father was an intercept radar operator in the RAF. He was in the Air Training Corps and reached the heady heights of becoming champion in Aircraft Recognition in 1982 (Scottish and Northern Ireland area). He has been able to draw on much of his knowledge gained over the years to find the interesting stories that will appeal to readers.
