From Darkness To Darkness is a portrait of its hero, New York based art critic Jonah Blank, through his intimate relationships. Handling bitter family arguments, uncomfortable studio visits, marital harmony and struggle and the passing sweetness of parenting with the same acute but delicate touch, Heinrich paints a moving picture of life—from birth to death —as something that can never quite be grasped.

WILL HEINRICH was born in New York and spent his early childhood in Japan. He writes about visual art for the New York Times and other titles. His debut novel The King’s Evil won a PEN/Robert Bingham Fellowship in 2004. He has a BA in Japanese from Columbia and an MFA from Bard College.
