This practical guide provides structured knowledge on selected contemporary online research techniques essential for conducting scientific research utilizing modern digital tools and artificial intelligence technologies. Organized into four thematically interrelated chapters, the work systematically guides readers from fundamental methodological issues to practical applications of online research.
First, it explains the methodology and techniques of online research, covering both classical tools, such as online surveys and virtual interviews, and more advanced methods, including digital ethnography, web scraping, and online discussion monitoring, while also addressing the adaptation of traditional research methods to the specific conditions of digital settings. Second, it presents the practical aspects of applying artificial intelligence and data management in online research, highlighting ethical considerations, responsible data collection and analysis practices, and the potential for optimising research processes through modern digital tools. This dual focus enables thorough understanding of theoretical foundations while supporting effective and reliable application in scientific practice.
Fundamentals of Online Research Methods serves researchers and scholars focusing on online research methods and techniques across diverse disciplines, including philosophy, sociology, psychology, communication studies, and cultural studies. It provides valuable insights for both novice and experienced researchers seeking to navigate the evolving landscape of digital research methodologies, offering practical frameworks for conducting rigorous, ethical, and innovative online research in contemporary academic contexts.
