Avivah Gottlieb Zornberg was born in England to a rabbinic family. She studied at Gateshead seminary and at Cambridge University, where she received her PhD. Zornberg is also the author of Particulars of Rapture: Reflections on Exodus (2001) and of The Murmuring Deep: Reflections on the Biblical Unconscious (2009).
