From the author of the acclaimed graphic memoir The Times I Knew I Was Gay comes a brilliantly chilling and original collection of interconnected graphic ghost stories

'A deliciously smart and spooky book, alive with longing and menace. I loved it' SARAH WATERS

A house may not start haunted...but it can become haunted.

Over the decades, the occupants of Number 20 have noticed that their house, stood in the corner of a London square, feels a little more alive than most: whispers in the walls, a secret in the cellar, the growing sense that no one truly leaves... And for each of the characters in this book - Connie, Hedda, Orlaith, Teddy and Maud - the house seems to understand their deepest desires. In every story is a wish for more - but what might too much wishing unleash?

Drawing from classic ghost stories and enlivening them with themes of identity, desire and queer revelations, Eleanor Crewes makes the haunted house tale her own.

'Sinister, tender, breathtaking - I loved it. My favourite queer horror book of the year' KIRSTY LOGAN

'A new gothic classic, holding subjects of gender, sexuality and desire to the light. I have been waiting a long time to read something this good' AMY TWIGG, author of Spoilt Creatures, an Observer Best Debut of 2024

'One of the most unique and haunting collections of graphic stories I've ever read. I am certain any queer reader lucky enough to encounter it will be met with flashes of longing and recognition' NATALIA THEODORIDOU, author of Sour Cherry

Eleanor Crewes is an illustrator and author of The Times I Knew I Was Gay and Lilla the Accidental Witch. Her books have grown from zines and hand-stitched comics to internationally published graphic memoirs, YA fantasy and adult horror. She lives in North London with her partner.
