A wide selection of works and artefacts from the collections of the Ginori Museum and the MIC Faenza stages the dialectic between creativity and the limits imposed by the material, between aesthetic research and scientific progress, between tradition and the changing nature of taste.

The story begins in the first half of the 18th century, when Carlo Ginori, a chemistry enthusiast, founded the factory of the same name and personally dedicated himself to researching the recipe for porcelain paste.

Retracing the events of the Ginori factory and the evolution of ceramic technique in the 18th and 19th centuries, the narrative unfolds in several sections dedicated to porcelain sculptures, the progressive enrichment of pictorial decoration up to the introduction of chromolithography and photography, with a 1737-1896 look towards the 20th century, when the newly formed Richard-Ginori would base much of its prosperity on the production of electrotechnical porcelain.

Texts by Rita Balleri, Oliva Rucellai, Valentina Mazzotti, Sabrina Gualtieri, Rosarosa Manca.
