* SHORTLISTED FOR THE SUE GRAFTON MEMORIAL AWARD * 'An addictive and authentically Native crime series' - LOUISE ERDRICH North Dakota, 1970s. Renee 'Cash' Blackbear is a freshman at Moorhead State College. Between classes, driving truck and policing her brother - a man she hasn't seen since they were taken from the Ojibwe White Earth Reservation as children - Cash has little time for solving crimes with her mentor Sheriff Wheaton. But when one of her classmates vanishes without a trace, Cash's dreams are haunted by visions of terrified girls begging for her help. Then a teenage girl from a nearby town disappears, and Cash knows that the sheriff will need her insight. What dark secrets will she uncover? And can she find the girls before it's too late?
