Starting with the landing of Norseman Leif Eirksson in 1020 in North America, early explorers, Spanish and English colonization, the effect on the native American tribes, the four government structures of France, Spain, England the Netherlands. Martin Kelly is the guide for About.com’s American History Web site. He also authored the SparkNotes study notecards for the AP American History review. He taught middle school social studies courses for eight years and is currently the Director of Curriculum for the Florida Virtual School. Melissa Kelly is the author of The Everything New Teacher Book and the guide for About.com’s Secondary School Educators site. She taught social studies in the traditional classroom and online with the Florida Virtual School for nine years.
