Grammar Matters is a simple, accessible and engaging book about the rules of grammar. It is designed to introduce the basic foundations of grammar to teacher education students in order to build knowledge and confidence, and equip them with a range of skills and strategies to help them teach grammar and literacy. At the start of each chapter, students are introduced to the key concepts to be discussed in the chapter on the basis of what the reader already knows about grammar, and what they can expect to learn about and master in the chapter. There are basic grammar and teaching strategy 'hot tips' throughout the book to help students remember grammar rules and conventions, and apply them when teaching in the classroom.
Dr Margaret Zeegers is Associate Professor in the School of Education and Arts at the University of Ballarat. An experienced teacher and researcher, she has worked in education as a school teacher in state schools, in TAFEs, and in universities in Australia and abroad.
