Second instalment about the adventures of this quirky, off-beat comedy duo – a boy scribe and a kick-ass granny.

"I have not long now. The fire is dying and I can hear their teeth rattling in the darkness..." When eccentric young wordsmith Samuel Johnson stumbles upon a page torn from an ancient notebook bearing these words, his interest is piqued. And the words seem to have a strange effect on Granny Samurai, leaving Samuel with an uncomfortable sense of looming doom. He doesn't have long to wait for his fears to be realized: on the day of Samuel's birthday party his friend Philip is accidentally sucked through an errant wormhole. Before you can say "Megawocka!" Samuel and Granny Samurai are on a dangerous rescue mission that leads them to a mysteriously bleak island in another dimension. But wait, that's not an island – isn't that a giant, pulsating ... brain?

John Chambers is a cartoonist and screenwriter who has developed concepts and written scripts for many animated series over the past ten years, including Jasper the Penguin, Lazy Lucy, The Incredible Gnarfs, The Journey of the Fourth King (2005), The Little Knight Trenk and Molly the Little Monster. He also writes and draws the long-running comic strip "The Adventures of Festy O'Semtex" for Phoenix magazine, and has contributed many cartoons to other publications. This is John's second book for children, sequel to the hugely popular Granny Samurai, the Monkey King and I. John is from the west coast of Ireland but now lives in Berlin, Germany, with his partner and their three daughters.
