Philip Birtles joined the de Havilland Aircraft Company in 1957 and spent most of his career in the British aerospace industry, mainly in the marketing role. He is the author of some fifty books on aviation and has been a volunteer at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum for about fifty years. One of his interests is photography of aircraft, and there are many examples in this book going back many years, starting in black & white and progressing to colour.
