Geoffrey Ashe has assembled an account of the Hell-Fire Clubs and of their antecedents and descendants. It follows the libertarian tradition through de Sade and into the 20th century, with discussions of Aleister Crowley, Charles Manson and Timothy Leary.

Geoffrey Ashe is best known for his many books on King Arthur (King Arthur's Avalon; From Ceasar to Arthur; The Quest for Arthur's Britain; Camelot and the Vision of Albion) and his management of the Camelot Research Committee. He wrote 'The Discovery of King Arthur' for Sutton Publishing which was published last year. He has been a professional writer for over thirty years and has published biographies, novels and travel books. He lives in Glastonbury.
