This beautifully presented book contains exquisite sketches and notes on mediaeval heraldry and related subjects, accumulated over more than thirty years, from Peter Greenhill’s work as an heraldic miniaturist. Divided into eight comprehensive sections, it records in detail the kind of reference material that Peter considers necessary to carry out his job on a day-to-day basis. To date, he and his wife, Gilly, have produced approximately 3000 figures and Peter has become a world-renowned, highly regarded authority in this specialised area.
Peter Greenhill was born in Stoneleigh, Surrey and educated at Seaford College, Sussex. His career includes work in graphic illustration and caricature. He was an artists' representative before becoming a fashion and beauty photographer in the advertising business in the 1960s. He is a member of the Heraldry Society and was a founder member of the Society of Heraldic Arts and its chairman for four years. He is an honorary member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen for whom he designed their Coat of Arms, granted by the College of Arms in 1992. He and his family live in Bournemouth.
