Since its small screen debut in 1982, Macross has remained one of most influential mecha anime of all time. Longtime franchise illustrator Hidetaka Tenjin captures the high-flying action of the series’ iconic “variable fighters” like no other artist through his hyper-realistic illustrations for model kits, magazines, promotional materials, and more.

This volume gathers Tenjin’s illustrations from the eras of Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Flash Back 2012, Super Dimension Fortress Macross II, Macross Plus, Macross 7, Macross Zero, and the Macross Frontier TV series.
Hidetaka Tenjin is a Japanese mecha anime artist, science fiction illustrator, and voice actor. Hidetaka Tenjin works primarily as an illustrator, designer and concept artist and has provided illustrations for model kits ranging from Hasegawa’s MACROSS line to BANDAI SPIRITS’ GUNDAM and STAR WARS lines. In the field of anime, some of his most notable contributions include mechanical art for MACROSS ZERO, MACROSS FRONTIER and AQUARION and the creation of mechanical designs for HELLSING, MACROSS DELTA, KNIGHT’S & MAGIC, SUPER ROBOT WARS T, BACK ARROW and YASUKE. He also provided mechanical imagery and animation direction on STAR BLAZERS: SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO 2205. In addition to designing and illustrating, Tenjin is also a professional voice actor, with roles in anime such as Knight’s & Magic, Garo: Vanishing Line, The God of High School, and Jujutsu Kaisen, as well as the Japanese dub voice of Ryder Azadi in Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: Ahsoka.
