Maine’s 100 Mile Wilderness is one of the most famous sections of the Appalachian Trail – a 97-mile stretch that attracts hikers from around the world. The area’s name derives from the fact that it’s the longest section on the whole AT without a paved road crossing or a town. What most people don’t know is that the region is crisscrossed with logging roads, providing day access to the trail as well as the mountain, ponds, and waterfalls surrounding it.
