Allan I. Macinnes is Emeritus Professor History at Strathclyde, having formerly taught there and at Glasgow and Aberdeen. He has written monographs on Charles I and the Emergence of the Covenanting Movement, 1625-41; on Clanship, Commerce and the House of Stewart, 1603-1788; on The British Revolution, 1629-61; on Union and Empire: the making of the United Kingdom in 1707; an on The British Confederate: Archibald Campbell, 1609-61.
