We know what we see. Do we know what they see?

  • Did you know that most animals do not recognize red colour?
  • Did you know that a bird that may only seem uninterestingly black to you can be painted in the most beautiful colours for members of its own species?

Have you ever wondered how animals perceive the world around us? Whether they see the same colors we see? Whether the vision of a fish is blurry underwater like ours? Or whether dogs like to watch TV, or cats really can see in the dark? If you have ever wished you could ask the animals themselves, don’t worry, because the book you are holding in your hands holds the answers to these questions and many more.

Marie Kotasova Adamkova has always loved nature and literature. Having graduated from the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, she obtained a Master's degree in environmental and evolutionary biology and PhD in zoology. In her precious moments of free time, when she isn’t working on specialist publications, she relaxes by writing children’s books.

Tomas Kopecky is an illustrator of children's books and computer games, working as part of a creative duo with his wife Tereza. He began his career as a pixel art mobile game designer in Prague, and in 2019, he illustrated his first book, A Bug Hotel. In his free time, Tomas enjoys the countryside, mountain biking, skateboarding, board games, and – above all – spending time with his family, including his two daughters and his dog Karlik.
