Hungarian Folktales

Hungary nestles in the crossroads of Europe, and so Hungarian culture shares elements from West and East, with a rich tradition of folk beliefs and folktales that have been passed down through the generations. Boglárka Klitsie-Szabad (Introduction) is a Hungarian ethnographer and storyteller. In 2019 Boglárka was awarded the Young Master of Folk Arts state prize and in the same year she won the Prima Junior prize in the category of Folk Art and Public Education for her activities in the field of storytelling and achievements for teaching this traditional art. In her book Seven Years and Seven Blinks of an Eye: The Tales of Vilmos Csipkés and Other Storytellers from Arló she introduced the traditional art of a Hungarian Roma storyteller. It was published in Hungarian, in 2022, and co-authored by Norbert Varga.
