Explanations of key STEM (engineering) topics in an original, highly entertaining way through comical
trial and error scenarios.
In this book find out what forces are at work on a rollercoaster ride. What stops you from falling off? How do you loop the loop? What does it take to build a rollercoaster?

This series looks at how things work such as how a plane can fly or a boat can float through the
comical endeavours of an inventor who tries to replicate what he sees without knowing the science,
with hilarious results. We discover what went wrong and why through the scientific explanations
that follow each attempt, making tricky concepts accessible and entertaining in equal measure.
Perfect for children aged 7+

Tom Jackson has written more than 80 books and contributed to hundreds more. His specialties are natural history, technology and all things scientific. Tom spends his days finding fun ways of communicating facts, new and old, to all age groups and reading abilities. Tom lives in Bristol, England, with his wife and three children. He studied zoology at Bristol University and has had spells working at zoos. Tom has also worked as a conservationist, which saw him planting trees in Somerset, surveying Vietnamese jungle and rescuing wildlife from drought-ridden Zimbabwe. Writing has also taken him to the Galápagos Islands, Amazon rainforest, coral reefs of Indonesia and Sahara Desert. Nowadays, he can be found mainly in the attic. Pipi was born in Buenos Aires in the fabulous 60's and has always drawn. As a little child, he used to make plasticine figures too. He took them along to school as a hobby and at the age of 19 he found out he could earn a living by drawing. Pipi started designing humor magazines and was surrounded by the original drawings of many experimented artists. At the same time, he was encouraged to publish his own works. His curiosity lead him from then onwards. Pipi's drawings are usually funny and expressive. He develops cartoons and children's illustration in different artistic styles, and also 3D figures and puppets. He does some caricaturing as well, and he has done character design for animation, key animation and layouts. Pipi listens to music when he works. He loves Zappa, Bowie, Queen and he is fond of Progressive Rock.
