Two brothers share a room. One is asleep, but the other is WIDE awake. He has a burning question: why do we sleep in beds?

Little brother Magnus can’t fall asleep. His bed is too big, too cold, too lumpy! He also has a very important question to ask his big brother Kasper: why do we sleep in beds? As the two brothers explore all the places they could sleep, and they gradually get more fantastical, we get to go on a bedtime adventure like no other.

Born in the Philippines, Emma Farrarons grew up in Paris, France. She studied art at Edinburgh College and Paris’s Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs. A childrens’ book designer for many years, she also created colouring books including the international best-seller The Mindfulness Colouring Book. During the Pandemic Emma decided to take the plunge and dedicate herself to becoming a children’s author and illustrator. In 2025 she won the coveted Klaus Flugge Prize for the first picture book she had ever illustrated, called My Hair is as Long as a River. Emma also writes and illustrates the Wands Away first reader series. I Can’t Sleep is her first picture book as both author and illustrator.
