Professional architect and photographer, Can Dagarslani, challenges his audience with his very specific view of the world. His work is a fusion of modern architecture and retro-style photography with a strong focus on (a)symmetry, distinctive colour codes and subtly expressive models in silently quirky, spacious settings. This book, soon to be released via The New Heroes & Pioneers, highlights the interplay Can created between themes such as identity and serenity, which are present in most of his work. Without the distraction of texts and titles, Can's minimalist approach encourages viewers to become completely absorbed in the images, which allows them to find their own personal meaning and connection to the features and models present in each page. Can, whose vision considers the connection between urban serenity and the meaning of identity within and, alongside said structures, draws inspiration from his architectural background, as well as his innermost understanding of people's perceptions and illusions. The result is an inimitable body of work that surfs the fine lines between visual confrontations and playful imagery, packed into minimalist pages inviting you to view the world through Can's knowing eyes. 1 Can has built a stylistic photographic portfolio that focuses on colours and lines 2 Can's inspiring photography has been featured in IGANT, Metal Magazine, Phaidon, It's nice that and many more editorials 3 Can Dagarslani unique voice has won him many awards and is exhibiting all around the world with a very strong base both in Europe and in Asia.
Graduating in 2006 from Mimar Sinan University of Fine Art, Istanbul, Can Dagarslani aged 31, became increasingly more interested in photography while studying architecture. Dagarslani's love for urbanism and architecture is evident in his organized quirkiness and his, sometimes sarcastic, game of the human form. Human relations, the fragility of our social boundaries, love, identities and all these other drugs are some of his preferable thematic.
