Plymouth is the third largest city in southern England, with a population of almost 250,000. This book includes suburban areas as well as the city centre, districts such as Turnchapel, Crownhill, Compton St Budeaux and Ford, and also features the Dockyard at Devonport.
Tom Bowden was born in Torpoint, just across the Tamar from Plymouth, and began work in the Devonport Dockyard in 1945. His three books for Sutton Publishing are The Cornish Coast, Around Plymouth and Cornwall. Tom now lives in Bath, but is a frequent visitor to Devon and Cornwall.
