Immersive Scholar: A Guidebook for Documenting and Publishing Experiential Scholarship Works offers a model for librarians, technologists, and scholars collaborating on the production of new forms of scholarly projects, particularly those designed for large scale or immersive spaces. Born from Immersive Scholar, a three-year grant to the NC State University Libraries from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the case studies and principles laid out in this guidebook highlight pragmatic and non-technical opportunities for integrating experiential scholarship within the current scholarly ecosystem. Abigail Mann recently completed her MLIS at UNC-CH, realizing, after 20 years as an English professor, that librarianship allowed far more integrated approaches to increasing information availability and literacy. She has published widely on Victorian literature, as well as developing guides to faculty for justifying and describing experiential scholarship for professional evaluation purposes.
Micah Vandegrift lives and works in Raleigh, NC. He served as the lead Principal Investigator for the Immersive Scholar project and previously researched open science policy and infrastructure in Europe as a Fulbright-Schuman Research Fellow.
